IMEG is growing, and we'd love to have you join our team!We are currently seeking a SUE Field Technician in our Manassas, VA office. The Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Field Technician is an entry level position for subsurface utility locating. The Technician will be exposed to the daily operations of all SUE crew activities including operating field Subsurface Utility equipment, geophysical prospecting for underground utilities, and overall SUE crew activities. The Technician will be responsible for providing SUE assistance under leadership from a Crew Chief or Office Coordinator.
Principal Responsibilities:
Perform field work for SUE location scopes of work using appropriate geophysical prospecting equipment to accurately designate underground utility layouts and perform routine computations for various project types.
Operation and assistance of operation of SUE equipment, data collection and other location equipment.
Transfer files between data collection and internal company project folders.
Quality checks and processing of field data. Download, maintain, and verify accuracy of project data, reports, and managing database.
Maintain professional and productive working relationships with all clients and coworkers.
Operate a company vehicle.
Observe safety and security procedures.
Required Skills & Abilities:
Work to gain knowledge of typical SUE marking techniques.
Interest in modern SUE equipment, devices, and methods.
Problem solving techniques.
Ability to work in an outdoor environment.
Possesses basic oral and written communication skills.
Ability to professionally represent IMEG.
Valid driver's license with ability to be insured by IMEG carrier; must consent to a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check.
Advanced/Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays.
Education & Experience:
Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM), or Engineering preferred.
Prior experience in the building design consulting or construction industry preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds.
Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull.
Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises.
